Christmas trees

Postby hungryrob » Fri Dec 12, 2008 10:17 pm

Anyone ever planted Xmas trees?

I have a couple of acres of ground and I fancy having a go at planting tress to flog to the neighbours in the years to come (honesty box and cut your own type arrangement). I was thinking of around 20 - 30 trees every year.

Anyone else ever done this?

Yep - hundreds of the things.
If you can stop the deer eating them, nothing could be easier :)

I know its an old post, but stupid question-- what would you do with the roots? Leave them in to rot away, or dig them right out?

Better still is a mix of diesel, fertiliser and charcoal.. Seen. This done when I worked in forestry, it was considered safer and a lot cheaper than blasting gelignite.

And, before anyone asks, NO, I don't know the proportions of the mix.

for some reason we have a few on our land that have always been there on a piece of land we dont use....

Its kind of handy considering we never have to buy christmas trees now.
