Popcorn pheasant / chicken

Postby sauer » Mon May 13, 2013 9:10 pm

Okay pheasant season finished but if you have in freezer good if not use chicken
TRY THIS!!!! It's quick easy & damn fine dip!!!!

so bloody simple anyone can do it

the pheasant
2 skinned pheasant breast
bit of flour seasoned with whatever you want i used paprika salt n pepper
2 eggs beaten

the dip
2teaspoons runny honey
1 small tea spoon djon mustard ...start small can add more if want bit more of a kick
soy sauce light or dark doesnt matter

method
make the dip first

2teaspoons runny honey into a wee dipping/ finger bowl
add 1teaspoon of djon mustard & whip /whisk/beat till mixed well
then add soy sauce till its runny but coats back of yer teaspoon....or just add to your taste easy
dip done

take pheasant cut into thin strips ...pencil thin
dip into the egg
then into the flour
once all yer strips ready fry medium to hot ish heat for 4 minutes untill golden brown i used rapeseed oil but could use olive oil or ground nut oil in frying pan
pat down with kitchen roll remove excess oil and munch with a beer n a movie!!!

i found the dip amazing!!! even if you dont do the pheasant make the dip it takes less than 5 mins and will blow you away

could do it with chicken or turkey too i guess

yum yum

i was seriously impressed with this one on simplicity and flavour...and of course quickness

I did several pheasants that needed to be eaten that way last season (because it was quick and easy), but didn't have a recipe for the dip - it sounds brilliant - I shall be giving that a go!!!

Don't see why not??
I think rule of thumb with game ...cooking wise is hot & fast or low n slow

I soak rabbit overnight in cold salted water before I use it and remember to remove the scent glands from either side of the back thighs just outside where its butt would be

Never tried it with rabbit but worth a go

I also soak hare in Brine , takes away that strong earthy flavour .

Absolutely superb. Followed recipe and cut them into really small chunks. Overdid them a little but as its 1st attempt won't worry too much. They lasted about 3 minutes even the wife got stuck into them, that's the ultimate test proven. The dip is excellent and took literally 30 seconds to make.

It is a small world we have the same type of plates and like yours the food did not last long.

Yeah the dip us simple but you get the heat o the mustard , the salt o the soy sauce & the sweet o the honey all at the same time , I know a few folk tried different types of mustard....same as everything else ..... Try adapting it slightly if wanted to suit yerself :-)
