Hi from a newbie

Postby brun » Tue Nov 22, 2016 3:39 pm

hi all

just joined :)

I have a Remington Express XP .177 with 9 X 50 Parallax AO scope and lamp attached

At the moment I just 'plink' in the back garden but can group 6 shots in a 5p radius at 35yds

I live a a very rural village (S26) in between Sheffield, Rotherham, Worksop and Chesterfield

At the moment i can't seem find anywhere to shoot - strange considering i'm surrounded by farm land and 3 golf courses within a 20 minute drive

I'm hoping i can find permission to shoot somewhere mainly evening and weekends

cheers
brun

Hi brun .... welcome to the Forum!

Are there any clubs in your area that you could join? That's often a good way to meet people who might be able to get you an introduction to permissions, and at least you'll get to shoot your rifle more often too. ;)

Hello and welcome to the forum  Precisely which village do you live in? you are very close to me, and I'm aware just how hard it is around here to get shooting permissions. It's very much a case of dead-man's shoes. do you work on any of the local shoots? that's an excellent way of meeting like minded folk who may be able to help or take you out with them. Stick around on the forum and let us get to know you and we may take you out with us locally, but we need to be able to trust you first. I have had several other locals who join the forum, make at most a couple of posts along the lines of "I want to be taken out", and then they try and steel the permission or go out on it alone and claim that I said they could do so  which meant that I lost the shooting on that farm. Others have been absolute morons with no idea on gun safety, legal quarry, seasons or shooting manners and were just downright dangerous. So you see, before anyone comes forward with an offer to take you anywhere, we do want to know more about you
