Cocker tail problem

Cocker tail problem

Postby SteveM47 » Fri Mar 29, 2013 9:26 am

Hi all

We have a working cocker spaniel bitch, 18 months old, who completed her first full season beating this year. I'm afraid to say that my wife wanted a dog that was not docked, and now we are increasingly finding that our dog comes back from walks with the tip of her tail bloodied. We are realising that we should have ensured the dog was docked when she was small, and now she is older we are wondering what to do for the best.

I would welcome suggestions - get her docked now? Wrap up her tail when she goes out?

Thanks all

Steve

Rap duck tape around the tip of her tail just before you go out. After a 1 or 2 outings she will just ignore it and work as normal. As soon as you start working them the forget about it anyway. Works for my springer ;)
