Hi all ... I've got a 6yr old gsp who is gun shy .. She even gets nervous when I take the rifle out the cabinet ... At 6yrs old is it too late to do anything about it ?

Have you tried feeding the dog while rifle us out?

I had a rescue dog once that was terrified of traffic, what i did was make a fuss of him while getting near traffic, and try to judge his comfort level got down next to him gave him treats and mad a big fuss of him ( this was in the main street so i must have looked real prat) it eventually worked, so why dont you take her to visit a clay shooting ground and get her used to the noise like that slowly slowly

Put the dinner next to the rifle while eating eventually the dog will take no notice whatsoever of the rifle

Put treats on the rifle so the dog can eat them off it also
