Has anyone been out for the mackerel this year? And if they are in what are the numbers like?

No reports from Anglesey as yet. It was dire last year. Water too warm, algae, seals......who knows why :?

Few mates of mine have been pulling them in off the break water, not been out myself or out in the boat yet.

Whilst on Arran for a week this August I was taken out by one of the locals to service his lobster pots, he uses mackerel as the bait so we had to catch some whilst out there. I caught 60 odd in just over 30 minutes  including several washing lines of one on every hook  . We then went close inshore between the rocky outcrops to get several pollack  I cannot say enough about how friendly everyone we met on Arran was.

Unfortunately they're probably fattened on radioactive turds around the IoM :!: .
