Isn't it good the way statistics can be presented by mixing numbers, percentages and odds? Convert the figures into just plain numbers and you get this

1300 deaths less 494 suicides is 806 deaths. Of those 806, 650 were murder, 78 accidental and 78 with no reason given.

If the black deaths were only part of the murder total then of the 650 murders 595 were black (10 x more likely is 90%) leaving just 55 among the rest of the population.

If the 10 x times more likley was of the whole then 1170 of 1300 were black.

But of course it's not PC to actually say what the figures are, it's better to muddle them up a bit to hide where the real problem is.

As regards the volunteer fire fighter whose four year old shot himself in the face - where did he get the gun from?

The antigun crowd has always been lousy at statistical analysis. In my home state the firearm murder rate is on par with that of the UK's. The trend of the killings that do occur follow Kieths analysis. When the anti' s show up at the state house in support of gun control legislation and present their statistics you'd would swear that we all live in South side Chicago.
