Cataracts

Postby mathspete » Mon Apr 29, 2019 11:17 pm

Just returned from my opticians who has informed me that I have cataracts in both eyes that will need to be removed and the lenses replaced with plastic ones. I knew my vision had altered over the last few years but had no idea that it could not be corrected by a change of prescription. I now cannot drive, as my vision is not up to the legal driving level and will need two ops over the next 3-4 months, but hopefully will then be able to resume all my shooting activities and get around all my farms and be able to see those bunnies, foxes and deer without the need for binoculars to see the damn things. Wish me luck boys, it's going to be quiet for a few months :luck:

Thanks, Steve and I have been in regular contact by phone and text but have not managed to get together for a while, we never seem to be free at the same time. We will probably have some joint outings once my eyes are sorted out, I'll be in touch if you want to join us.

Pete,
My wife had them done last year and the first thing she said to the nurse was I can now see out of that eye.

My aunt also had hers done and my uncle started moaning that she could see the house was needing painted and cleaned.
So in some respects good and in others bad.
Best of luck when you get the operation

Although it surgery the results can be great and disappointing at the same time. My 86 year mother vision was severely limited by cataracts as she kept putting off the surgery. After the surgery she had great vision however her first comment was "I'm so wrinkled". I guess the cataracts hid the aging process from her. It's really an operation worth having especially if you're a shooter. You'll get great eyesight and that's worth the world.

Good luck with the ops, Pete.

I'm also developing cataracts - mainly in the left eye at the moment - so it's an operation that I'll [NOT!] be looking forward to in the future.
