Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!! Do you fellow get all dressed up like ghosts and goblins to visit neighbors for trick or treats. It's Halloween in the US and the kids will be out and about tonight in their costumes visiting neighbors and receiving candy. I have my black cat but he's scared s---less of spooky kids, Uncle Fester"ish" bald old men, and spooky aging rockers as am I. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I take it that you will not be trick or treating tonight. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Bah Humbug come from the UK from the Dickens story that I'm tortured with every Christmas time and again. The correct Halloween terminology is " BOOOOO!!!!! Not everything that comes from the US of A is GOOD! :lol"

Why should I answer the door to a bunch of grotty kids who rarely have the manners to utter anything but "Trick or treat" whilst they stand there with hand outstretched?

We English used to attach more relevance to Guy Fawkes night when during the week prior to the 5 November great efforts were made to build an effigy of Guy and ask for "Penny for the Guy". Then on the 5th the effigy was burnt on the family bonfire.

Nowadays the effort seems to be to see who can purchase the most elaborate costume to dress children up in and then send round the streets, in the dark with no adult escort in the name of nameless demon knocking on doors persistently until the householder gets so fed up they go outside and tell them to sod off somewhere else.

Right, now that I've proved I an old grump I going find the house where the children live and knock on their door at 2 0'clock in the morning. :kill: :kill:

Ach you know what, I've never been a Halloween fan but just had a few lovely little kiddies knock the door (chaperoned by parents) , all kitted-out in the scary gear and they did a wee poem etc...

Made me happy, I must say, to see them clearly making a lot of effort and enjoying the attention.

I reckon the troubles we used to get with spotty teenagers is mostly gone these days, as money seems too easy to come across... just not worth the bother.

In the village I live in its an excuse for a bit of a party. There is a bit of a do in the pub and a Ghost Walk round the village. The unwritten rule is that a carved pumpkin means you can knock, no pumpkin, stay away.
We have had a string of little cute kids dressed as ghosts and werewolves, pumpkins and zombies for the last hour ( and their parents in the background) shrieking tick or treat for a few sweets; my kids used to love it.

I heard of one bloke who had spent an evening using old Ferero Rocher wrappers to wrap up Brussels sprouts for trick or treaters!

We haven't had any trick or treaters in the past 3 yrs.

Parents don't let the kids go door to door, anymore. Too many perverts in this world. Poisoned candy......razor blades in apples........

Private at-home parties are more prevalent now.

I wish I was joking.

But, it happens every year.

Parents are always reminded to inspect the treats before the kiddies start eating anything.

"Wikipedia" Yeah, now there's a totally reliable source.

I'll keep an eye on the news. Than it should hit the web soon after.
