Because it has 'M16' in it's title so it is a 'Black' knife and a 'Assault' knife, all the 'Mall Ninjas' will buy it...

Personally I don't like it at all, especially the Tanto blade :(

I actually have their 14SF version which is Aus8 and I quite like it (for all I would use it for). It would never be a good general utility EDC knife, poor choice for that with its tanto blade and akward "autolawk" system which needs manipulating with the liner lock each time you want to close it. It's just all aimed at an inexpensive sort of defensive knife, but why buy some low-end Chinese made thing for that?. Unless you live in some crime ridden shathole and it's the best you could do because your broke.

I just keep mine shaving sharp with my other cheap "S&W" ( ) as novelty letter and parcel openers. I certainly don't give any credit to people for buying them though  .

CRKT makes a good knife regardless of the whatever model that you are interested in. I really don't have a preference from one model of CRKT to another and I wouldn't be influenced by "preppers" or folks of that ilk. If you see a CRKT knife that suits you needs it would be a good choice in a quality knife. You could do lots worst.

Don't know about ontario but the other four produce a range of chinese made low end knives to Dave  :thdn: . You can usually tell by the price tag , so in fairness without spending more on the higher end models by Spyderco etc then your not going to do much better for the money. I.e. the spyderco BYRD knives are a similar price but certainly no better than CRKTs. I use BYRDs for edc as they are good enough for cutting plastics but its no big deal when they inevitably get lost. I've lost 3 in the past 5 or so years, and snapped one from abusing it.

Thank you. CRKT's is on the same order of those brands. They feature a line of popularly priced knives with commercial grade (plastic or metal) scales. They were produce in Seki, Japan and I believe that some still are. No matter the steels tend to be high grade alloys tempered to a hardness and will hold an edge. Ontario's are made in New York state. The brand is generally features a no frills knife. The specialty tends to be kitchenware cutlery. Case knives also makes very nice pocket folders. I really like their knives however they generally don't make locking blades which is a problem for me. I tend to work a knife too hard for it not to be a locking blade. No matter I still like a nice jigged bone handle polished Case.

ummm we may have our wires crossed :hmm:
i never said they did not,nor did i say that ckrt did not make decent knives as well :?
i just gave a list of knife makers that made a better reasonably priced knife than the ones in question, and in a far better steel ie aus8 or vg10 :)
