The Nessmuk and me

I could get an import from El Salvador for $37,

Or mutilating a perfectly good Old Hickory,

But I'm thinking seriously of firing up my forge and beating out my own. If I can find a suitable piece of steel.
Any suggestions, thoughts, etc about what kind of steel I should keep an eye out for...?
