Bit of ceramic tile, and a old leather belt. About 10 seconds to get a shaving edge

Love that kit, but far too much messing about LOL

I have a Spyderco Tri -Sharpmaker and a few others!

As an WE owner I tend to agree!. Brilliant tools for turning small blades into razors when you have fair amounts of spare time and space.

The pitch change over medium/long blades is not at all professional looking as well :thdn: . That's my sole real complaint though.

Plus the finer the edge the quicker you kill it, I have D10 and 12C27 on a lot of my blades, prefer a quick run over with a ceramic tile offcut and a strop, gives a good shaving working edge that will last, I usually have two knives in the field, a Cheap Mora or similar for the rough work and something fancier for the precision work.

I find with the WE that a 400/600 grit toothy edge will last long and provide a great edge for skinning and gutting and that will last for ages.

I use a lansky guided hone thingy, followed it up with a bit of stropping last time and my carbon steel mora easily shaved the back of my hand!
Does anyone have a recommendation for stropping compound? I have never done it before.
