Variation help on an open ticket

Postby Winchester200013 » Mon Apr 21, 2014 7:31 pm

Hi everyone

I was just wondering if anyone could help me as so far I have an open ticket for .22lr and .243, I recently sent off for a variation to allow me another .22lr as I would like a semi-auto and I am putting a night sight on my bolt action .22lr. I sent the variation off on Friday but due to it being a bank holiday weekend my letter probably won't be received until Thursday or Friday this week.

I have two questions really:-

1. What is the process after they have received your variation letter?

2. How long generally will this process take before I receive my updated ticket (as I have a .243 and brand new 10/22 waiting for me down in Dorset)?

If someone could help me with this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Louis

They shouldn't need to visit you so it should be straightforward.. Maybe a month tops...

At least that's what I'd expect up here in Scotland.

Surely it would be longer in Scotland, I'm from the metropolitan area of London and it's generally fairly quick for anything rifle related (from experience with FAC application).

Is that sort of standard for every constabulary then?

From my experience - If your application was all in order then your FAC should just turn up in the post in about a month with your variation added. If its with Dorset it will be a little quicker than Hampshire! Either way it should be pretty much a formality and be fairly quick. They will call you if there is anything amiss or there is an issue.

Mine is in with Dorset right now getting a .308, a .22lr and .22lr LBR being added. They have had it for about 2 weeks now and going on past experience I expect it back within about another 2 weeks.

If you don't have it after a month I would call and enquire.

I just got off the phone with my firearms enquiry team and they have recieved my variation form on Tuesday this week. I asked the FET to put a note that it is urgent as I need it for my livilihood (pest controller) and they said it should push through quicker any idea how long that would take?

correct me if i'm wrong, but you stated that you'd "just got off the phone to your FEO",who would really have some idea of how long your variation will take and how much of a workload they are under  unlike asking for someone's opinion who has no idea how your licencing team works or for that matter, who your licencing authority is;)
who do you phone when you want a dentist appointment :?: :hmm: :hmm:

you asked a question and were furnished with a response from Robbie.
you then chose to poo poo his quoted timescale with the argument that because you are from "the smoke" you somehow qualify for an express service from your own personal FEO who just sits on his @rse waiting for your variations to land on his/her desk.
if you don`t want to accept the advice/information you are requesting, then don`t bother wasting peoples time who have taken the trouble to respond.

that wasn`t sarcastic matey,it was a serious point and for the life of me I`ve got absolutely no idea why you didn`t.
these people are dealing with your ticket so i would have thought that maybe they would be the first people to ask     especially as you`d "just got off the phone to them" :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
or maybe logic is just a "northern thing" ;)
