The wood was improved for me by a bloke at my rifle club. The metalwork is as original. I understand that the very heavy barrel is quite uncommon. It's a cracking rifle, but the bolt is an almighty pig to get back in if you remove it (which is easy).
If you don't have to give up your car because other people commit crimes in their cars, why should I have to give up my firearms because other people commit crimes with their firearms?

I'll have to post an image of my Model 52. It's 1950's vintage, scope and all.

John Browning's original prototype 1911. It's his concept gun and it's located in the Browning Museum in Ogden, Utah. I went to the Browning Museum in Odgen, Utah last week. There are no markings on the gun at all and no bluing. This is the first as he built it.

Very cool.
Interesting that it has no safety. Not sure what the piece on the left side (where an ambi safety would be) is?

Now that IS real gun porn... my most favourite firearm of them all. It's so iconic and surely is the template that so many other makers have copied. It's the only handgun I have ever wanted to own.   Thanks for sharing those photos Dave.

Drat, I neglected to take a photo of the gun that was displayed beneath the 1911. It was Browning's one and only prototype of a hammerless 1911. The place was overwhelming. The museum is located in a former Union Pacific train station. It's in a room of 50 feet by 20 feet or so and packed with his work. I didn't know that he made a 37mm cannon that looks like a M2 50 caliber machine gun but only bigger. It's on display there also. These are photo's of his Model 1894 prototype. There are no markings on the gun and it not blued but it's still world class regardless.

and this would be his rifle range if he drove up the road a way. (Press “Ctrl and minus” to reduce the size of the photo or “Ctrl and plus” to expand. Photobucket isn’t cooperating with me today.)

VZ.58 Straight pull cools down at the 600m point of Kingsbury range, as testing and evaluation continuesthe VZ.58 continues to put a smile on my face every time.

It also puts out some rather nice fireballs.

Teaching a friend how to shoot with a Mosin Nagant 91/30 at 300yds.

Moving on to a Mauser K98 again at 300yds.

Mosin Nagant 91/30 at 600yds.

I am mostly the only person shooting with iron sights at these ranges and am pretty good at it. Its a shame really.
