End Of The Stags.

Postby Shaun A. » Mon Oct 20, 2014 9:47 pm

Well that's the end of the stags and bucks up here. I've been to the hill every day for the past five days, I've also had Conar22 off here to try for his first stag but no luck, I got him onto a couple of wee lads among twelve hinds but the wind this week has been the worst possible for the ground and the hinds winded us, he did get on one 160m away but a hind was standing in front of him and there was no shot  The weather has been unbelievably warm, t-shirt and light fleece the order for much of the day, not sure if the rut has fully started up here with only some roaring during the past month although this evening there was quite a bit of roaring out about.
I got this twelve pointer a couple of weeks ago, he was in among forty odd hinds and a few smallish stags keeping to the fringes and out of the big mans way.
99.4kgs larder weight.

A good way to keep yourself busy Shaun!

Have to admit; I'm jealous! I just never seem to be able to find the time to get out during the day, even on holiday!

Even though i didnt get my first stag it was still enjoyable being out there....its impressive watching the red deer even 300+ yards away, let alone through the sights of Shaun's tikka just waiting for the shot to present itself (certainly makes the heart race!) But hey it gives me something to look forward to next year :) . A big thanks to Shaun for taking me out,its much appreciated
