Head Done

This buck: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=32888

is the best head that I've shot, since I started stalking back in the late 1970's, always shooting cull beasts.

So, with the aid of a skull cutting jig kindly loaned by Shaun, I have ended up with a keepsake.

Here it is, before finishing, in the middle.

It, and the one to its left, were shot not 200 yards from the same spot, so it looks like the genes are in the pool.

Smashing heads there, I'm not allowed to take anything into the house so my bucks antlers just come off with a hacksaw and I hope will be mounted on a stick soon.

I'd keep the antlers for knife handles if nothing else. Nice heads. thup:

Yes, Shaun. Thank you for the loan.

It holds the head well, and has plenty of adjustment to set up the angle of the cut.

The saw is shite, of course.

I think that the blade is far too flexible to get enough control to guarantee a straight cut.

I used a saw with a much stiffer blade, which worked fine.
