In the absence of any other topics, who went to the NEC for the shooting Show?

I missed the show too by about 2000 miles. No matter. I did buy this buggy rifle circa 1840 made in Vermont.

I went on Friday, after a late notice hospital appointment at 9:30 that was only supposed to take half an hour but took over an hour. Then I set off only to find that I must have the only prattnav in the UK that doesn't know where to the bloody NEC is! It remembered eventually though and I got there OK. I must say that overall I wasn't too impressed. The usual suspects were there, shotguns and tweed to the fore. I can't really say why, but it just didn't seem the same.
If you don't have to give up your car because other people commit crimes in their cars, why should I have to give up my firearms because other people commit crimes with their firearms?

I've got a ticket for Harrogate, I didn't fancy a 6 hour round trip to come away with a couple of caseguards and a carrier bag full of advertising leaflets.

With my luck. if there was an award for most pessimistic man in the UK Id never get nominated....

I didn't go this year, as I didn't think it would be any better than it was when it was at Stoneleigh Park, and from listening to everybody I've spoken to, it seems like I wasn't wrong. Narrow isles - lack of exhibitors - far too crowded - pricey food etc etc.

I'll give the Northern another try this year. The first one was good, last years I thought was disappointing, but overall probably worth another trip.

I'll skip the BSS next year, it's becoming an exhibition show for the main importers and many of the importers didn't even bother going. No Viking Arms, no Shield sights.
I did go to shot show in vegas and I think the BSS will end up looking more like that, with less gizzits.

Roll on the Northern!
