Applying for a FAC

Postby Albion81 » Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:24 pm

Hi all,
Hope someone can help. I’m trying to get into target shooting and trying to join a club but I wondered if I was wasting my time. I’m 37 now but 17 years ago I was cautioned for a stupid moment in my life I was arrested with a small amount of cocaine. It was the stupidest moment of my life. Other than this now spent caution I have an otherwise clear record. Will I be automatically be rejected for a FAC? Hope some one can help.

I would suggest trying. You might try giving the local FEO a call and asking how you stand for an FAC.
Hope that it all works out for you.

Just put your paperwork in and wait for the call to pay your fee by card.
Declare EVERYTHING in your application, there is a section to do this.
If they ring you and take your money,it's 99% happy days if they don't,you've lost nothing.
If they take your money and still turn you down they'll refund you anyway.

Hi all,
Thank you all for taking the time to reply, I’ve spoke to the licensing department and they said as long as that’s all that’s on the record and the time since it happend it wouldn’t be a straight no when applying for a FAC so now to push on through my probation. Thank you all again.

I'm a member of a local club and we have 30ish members, not many of us have perfect pasts and we all have our licences, old minor offences don't normally carry much weight when it comes to getting a FAC, my advise is to be completely honest on your application, after all they can see everything on their computers, if you don't declare something and they can see it on the computer then this will be seen as withholding information and your application will be rejected, speeding fines, speed awareness courses, mistakes when young will normally be judged fairly by your local FAO.

I would also advise joining your local shooting club and putting some time in with them, a lot of our members got their FAC with the clubs recommendation, you may also gain other shooting opportunities from other members,

regards Stuart
