Happy Birthday to Me

Postby flintlok » Fri Apr 19, 2019 3:24 pm

I always buy myself something nice for my Birthday since SidebySide or my wife both fail to do so. This year I bought a newly made Winchester 1886 short rifle in 45-70 by Miroku. I picked it up last night at the local gun store. I have a gun store credit of $350 because I sold them a case of 303 ammo. I sold all of my 303 rifles in the great yard sale gun auction and I had a 1248 round case of military ball in a sealed tin enclosed in a wooden military case. It's very rare that any gun store anywhere would owe me money. I was happy to get the 1886 that I bought off of Gunbroker and I was happier still when the shopkeep produced a used Henry Model Original 1860 lever gun in 44-40 at half the price of a new gun with the store credit. I don't consider myself a gun collector but this rounded out my Winchesters as I now have the 1860 Henry, the 1866, the 1873, the 1886, several 1892's and the 1894. All of them are shooters and I have plenty of ammo for each. Needless to say it's been a good Birthday week for me, To top it all off, I got a call this morning from the Civilian Marksmanship Program at the Anniston Arsenal in Alabama. I sent my Springfield 1903 to them for complete refurbishment and rebarreling. They are starting the project today. The CMP refurbishes obsolete US military rifles such as the Sringfield, Garands, and M1 Carbine back to mil spec or better. Well, Happy Birthday to me at 69.

Many happy returns!
Selling .303s in preference for Winchesters?
Shocking :)
