Magazine fitting

Postby Keef » Mon Feb 20, 2017 6:01 pm

I have a Valkyrie rifle in 6XC, the Valkyrie action is the same size as the Remi 700 action.

I use a Third Eye Tactical bottom plate that takes a 10 round AICS 308 magazine.

I'm looking for a new magazine for it. I have tried a Magpul 308 from the Ruger Precision Rifle in the Third Eye and it does not fit in.

Will the Magpul in the link fit the Third Eye bottom plate?

Keefe,

I have the Third Eye Tactical bottom metal on my Rem 700.

The best mags for the job are the ones that Graham at sporting services sell

I have never had any problems with them, they feed nice

I have an AICS mag from Sporting Services.

The problem is that when ten rounds are loaded the spring pressure is so great that the bolt will not push the round out.

I tried to alter the spring pressure but now need a new spring! Unfortunately a new spring is not available as a spare part so I will have to get a new mag and they are currently out of stock.

The Magpul is an alternative and as it is plastic the rounds may slip out easier, I just need to be sure it will fit in the bottom plate.

The LR/SR PMAGs (as found on the RPR) are AR10 SR25 fit so won't fit AICS base metal (different catch location), the Ruger Precision Rifle magwell is unique in that it will take both PMAGs and AICS magazines, having lockup points for both.

The Magpul PMAG AC mags will fit AICS base metal no problem. Also worth checking out Accurate Mag steel mags which are an industry benchmark and have different COL options.

I now have one of the magpul 308 ACIS fit magazines..

The mag fits perfectly I just had to drop the mag slightly so that the inside edges of the feed lips were clear of the bolt face.

Loaded with ten 6XC rounds it feeds well, far easier than the AICS one that I had and the line up is better for feeding.

Another bonus is that the plastic doesn't score the cases.
