Postby pierred » Fri Apr 25, 2008 8:14 pm

Hi chaps quite new to reloading and searching for a recipe for deer in my 243 sako finnlight as for factory i use sako gameheads 90grn which she seems to quite like, tried accurate 4350 and 3100 with 90grn scirrocos barrel is 20" and i think these babies where a bit on the slow side, grouping left a bit to be desired over an inch at best.

Bottom of the page here - http://www.reloadersnest.com/frontpage.asp?CaliberID=5
Some of these loads are a bit hot, so check the manufacturers sites to check the start loads and work up.

My favourite load (from a Sako, but A2 action) is a Nosler 95 grain BT set at an OAL of 3.305" and pushed by 41.8 grain of H414 and magnum primers. These give 3049 fps and an average group of 0.7"

Hi mate
As you now all rifles have there own prefered loads but i have found Max 42g Varget with a 70 Nos BT to be a good performer in a good number of rifles.
Also Varget is a non Temprature sensative powder.
Work out you load in summer at 30degres and in winther at minus temps should be no diffrence.
I would start at about 40g and work up in 2/10 of a grain. This is a snapy load and from memory is doing about 3400fps and very accurate

Depends on the twist rate but mine is a Remmy 700 with a 9 1/4 twist and it handles 100 grain bullets very well. My other .243 is a Sako with a 1 in 10 twist and it doesn't cope so well as the Remmy with the tighter twist.

I use N150 behind Nosler partition and get very good results. Will post the data up later.

I've lost my notebook

Recent loads are stored on quickload though :D

Don't know if your twist will take it but I'm using 39 grains N150 with 100 grain Nosler partition and CCi 200 Primers. 30 thou off the lands.

It's a fairly hot load, start at 38 and work up.....
