Welcome to the forum Daniel.
My take on the 22 AR platform is the CMMG they are well made and reliable. The Smith and Wesson 15-22 being made of plastic flexes so using it on a bipod is crap
But, and it's a big BUT, if you want it for bunny bashing leave the AR style rifles alone for the reasons stated below.
1, if seen walking across a field with an AR you stand out big time, it may be perfectly legal, but expect members of the public that see it to call the police and armed response to turn up. it happened to me. The police officers suggested a bolt action rifle stands out a lot less and does not look like a machine gun.
2, long mags are a pain on a bipod.
3, with a bolt gun you have to chamber the next round manually so less risk of accidental discharge.
4, easier to clear in the dark.
5, more punch from a bolt action as all the gasses are pushing the bullet and not cycling the action
6, bolt guns are more quiet than semi autos, less moving parts clanking
My suggestion, apply for two 22's one for the field and an AR for the range.
