First Gen FN Special Police Rifle.

Postby Calfed » Mon Sep 14, 2015 7:30 pm

I recently glommed what I believe is a first gen FN Special Police rifle. It was at an estate auction and just arrived at my FFL to begin the 10 day "cooling off" period. Have a few pictures from the auction site and a brief description.

Here are the pics...

Auction description advised:

*FN Special Police Rifle .308 Winchester caliber, 26" round barrel, S/N FG106xx. Black finish, with black synthetic stock. Condition: Excellent.

It looks like an early FN SPR, and haven't found much information about this rifle. Anyone have one?

Thanks.

Thanks, guys!

I ordered a scope for it (suppose to arrive today) and a Harris bipod and plan to get into precision tactical rifle shooting with it.

I picked up the FN SPR from my FFL yesterday, minutes after the 10 day "cooling off" period expired. It is every bit as nice as I remembered and looks very lightly used. I probably can't take any better pics than the full screen, high definition pics at the auction site...

But did take a few at different angles.

I'm a little confused about the scope bases. I thought they were two piece affairs, but after looking at them, they almost look like they were originally a 1 piece base that someone cut the middle out of.

You can see lettering that appears to be cut off

Anyone know what to make of that?

Also, I can't say for sure, but it also looks like there is some slope in the bases.

Its quite common to have an inclined rail or stepped mounts to minimise the elevation required to be "on Target" at short distances giving you lots of remaining adjustment for longer ranges.

Nice find!
If it has a trigger I'm gonna enjoy it!

I got a new scope for the rifle...a 6-24x50 Elite tactical FFP with the G2 reticle.

I mounted the scope. Used medium height rings--should have used the low rings

Still haven't shot it, though :(

Good weather and free time finally coincided and I got to the range with my SPR. I didn't have much time and also had a few other rifles to zero. By the time I got this on target, I didn't have many FGMM rounds left.

175gr FGMM @ 100 yards. (4 shot group just under 1"). I'm encouraged and believe that I can do better with some handload development and practice.

Looks a nice bit of kit and the target is impressive too.

Good to see you have put nice glass on it too, the top end Bushnell gear is great.

Thanks, Deallad!

I thought long and hard about which scope to buy and the Bushnell won out. Made in Japan at LOW, FFP, G2 reticle...had everything I wanted.

I'll start working up a hand load for this one. I've been able to best FGMM with my handloads in other rifles.
