From a wet, windy and pretty miserable Century. Absolutely packed out with shooters.

For the avoidance of doubt, there is no such thing as "American English". There is the English language and there are mistakes.

Well at least the wind flags are quite droopy!

I see the drainage works as well as ever.

In 1970 the Battalion I was with was running the Army and Civilian competition, I spent six weeks there living in a marque where the shotgun ranges meet the zero range. The marque was the Armourers shop.

No heating, a 100 yard walk to the toilets, further to the showers and washrooms. A longer still walk to the dining tent although I can't remember exactly where that was pitched.

There were two of us living in the marque and only one of us could go out at a time due to the small arm spares we had there.

One of our jobs was to set up the rifles for the Palma Match. At that time the host nation provided the rifles for all teams. A team would select a box of rifles to use for the competition at random. We had to fire groups to set the basic zero. I was mightily fed up with shooting 308 target rifles by the end.

Couldn't happen now though, the Army hasn't got enough men.

45 years ago and it seems like yesterday. Shame I can't remember what I did last week! :)

Lately a 100 yard walk to the toilets would require some planning on my part.
