Reflex Mod..

Postby Tommo » Tue Nov 10, 2015 11:28 pm

Anyone know if it's possible to get a reflex mod for a .22LR rifle?? I have a SAC on a chopped CZ452 but it's proving a little muzzle heavy and I was thinking a reflex mod would redress the balance for me.. any thoughts chaps??

I have a reflex mod on my CZ .17HMR. Someone used to make them for forum members but I cannot remember his name. On my cut down CZ Style I have a Sako sound moderator. Lightweight and better in sound reduction than the SAK.

A word of caution about using moderators on .22 and then putting it onto a centre fire. The gunsmith that used to fettle my rifles was asked to do this one time and did so reluctantly, fearing what might, and subsequently did, happen. The customer used his reflex moderator on the .22 rimfire for some time and then one day fitted it to his .243 deer rifle. First shot through blew the side out of the moderator, due to the excess .22 powder that can get deposited in the moderator.
If you don't have to give up your car because other people commit crimes in their cars, why should I have to give up my firearms because other people commit crimes with their firearms?

Steve I've heard of that happening but I have a mod for both .243 and .308 so I'd never be using it for anything other than my .22LR Just as a matter of interest, where did you get your Sako mod and what sort of price was it.

I got it from Countryman of Derby more years ago than I can remember. The CZ Style was my first powder burner and I got the Sako with it. The price wasn't bad. It's intended for rimfires and has lasted very well in spite of my neglect.

The gunsmith, now long dead, had a right barney with the bloke who blew the moderator but he had fortunately secured documentation expressly advising the buyer not to use the moderator in such a fashion so whatever the cause it is a first hand account of what happened rather than the usual "I know a bloke who knew a bloke" sort of thing.

These are popular with mini-rifle shooters who want shorter AR setups.

ATEC Wave is shorter and lighter than a SAK, only a couple of quid more in cost.
