Speed Loaders

Postby Keef » Tue Jan 26, 2016 12:48 pm

I'm looking for some speed loaders for a 357 seven shot.

Price in the US is $7.99 or less, price on Amazon UK £33.95!

Anyone know of a UK supplier at a more reasonable price, closer to the US price?

Brownells UK do them at about £11.00 but then there's a heavy P&P to pay.

I think I bought mine on ebay from the US, combined postage and there was no import duty IIRC

I did a search and E Bay came up with one. The seller wants about £7.00 for the speed loader and £34.00 postage!

Keef, have you looked at this web site,

http://triebel-shop.com/product_info.ph ... s_id=35688

The cost may be a bit cheaper. I'm not sure if an HKS speed loader is an ITAR regulated item. It may be only a export regulated item to countries on the prohibited states list.

I checked the ITAR regulations and it seem any accessory that will enhance the functionality of a firearm is pretty much an ITAR regulated item.

The cost with shipping is £27.00 or nearly $39.00 for an item that's $7.00 in the US!

Alas, somebody has to pay for all that free health care in Europe. I just so happen to have two of the HKS seven shot speed loaders for my S&W 686 and I have no idea of what I paid for them as it wasn't expensive. I'd sent some to you but with my luck the government would use that as an excuse to seize my firearms. ITAR is not my favorite regulation and the folks that oversee the program are the least friendly government clowns that I've ever dealt with. That takes some effort to be that kind of government as---le.

If someone in the States can source you some and send them to my hotel in Vermont in the next 7 weeks then I will bring them back for you after the school ski trip. We will be travelling to Stoke often enough to drop them off with you. I assume that they are not prohibited items for me to just carry in my luggage ? If you can get this organised let me know and I'll send you the address, Flintlock and I exchanged knives this way last year :cheese:

Thanks for the offer Pete but I'd rather you didn't take a chance on bringing them through US customs as the legalities of where they fit in the ITAR rules isn't clear.

If you'd bought a fifty cal you'd just sail through but a couple of speed loaders might get you the full cavity search!

I will persevere, I found some on the Helston Gunsmith web site but they are six round ones. I've e mailed them about a seven round one but await a reply.

Incidentally, if you have a slot for a 105mm Pack Howitzer on your FAC, Helston have them in stock together with some armoured vehicles to tow it with.

They've also got some spares for that 30mm ADEN cannon that's sat in your garage awaiting a firing pin.

Wish I had seen this earlier, just put an order to Brownells and have free postage as was over £100 ask members at your club who wants bits and bobs and put a bulk order in
