A new toy

A Colt Walker. Bloody things weighs about 7 pounds!
Tried it out on Sunday for the first time, so far so good but I need to spend some time working out what the best load is. The originals could take up to 70 grains of blackpowder I'm told.
The one below is my Remington.

I love those old horse pistols!!!! The Walker was the most powerful handgun around until the 44 Magnum came along.

Yeah, black powder.

The law says people can't smoke tobacco in the range but people like that Shootist geezer can come in and burn black powder, producing clouds of dirty, smelly, choking, target obscuring smoke.

They're a health hazard!

Target, who needs a target when shooting black powder/power. Those shots will hit something in the general direction of the aim on ocassion ala the Brown Bess. No matter, I still love the smoke and fire. 8-) 8-) 8-)

At my club we call that the 'Blackpowder smile' :)

We have to shoot BP on the lane closest to the extractor fans!

The Walker needed some work doing, it all needed tightening up. I thought the wedge needed replacing but actually the central pin was too long and so the cylinder wasn't seating properly. Got that sorted and all tight and perfect.
48 grains of BP under a .454 cast lead ball, spot on. Bugger to aim though as its so damn heavy! Great fun
