Educate me on 6.5mm calibres

Postby Jubbles » Sun Nov 19, 2017 10:14 pm

Hi all

Proud owner of a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser M96, using a no drill scout set up I'm poking 1.25-1.5 inch groups at 100yds

To put it simply I have fallen in love with the 6.5mm caliber and it's advantages. I am now looking at purchasing a 6.5mm caliber rifle of some form and am looking at the various 6.5 offerings that are seemingly available.

6.5x55 SE
6.5x47
6.5 Creedmoor

They all seem to have no difference or very little difference in bullet weight or velocity.

For someone looking to simply shoot out to 6-800m on a bog standard platform is there any real step up in capability for one caliber over another?
