22 Barrel lining

Thu Aug 15, 2019 10:00 pm

Hi All,

Just bought a new toy, a Remington rolling block N04 takedown, .22 dated by Remington to 1891 it's in fair condition great wood and it's fun to shoot.

I would like to get the barrel relined as there is some pitting and its very fussy with ammo.

Does anyone know a gunsmith in the UK that does this work?

Regards
Mike

Alas, there are several folks in the US whose primary business is barrel lining and freshening. Although that doesn't help much you should known that barrel liners are directional due to the way they are rifled. The liner is inserted with the direction with the rifling, not against, otherwise they tend to lead. That's they only help that I can offer. Good luck with your search.

Flinty,

I found a guy to do the job, just waiting for the parts to arrive from Brownells, then ill send the gun off to be done

I had to buy the drill and liner should take about 5 weeks to arrive

Mike

Here's how it's done. Just about any halfway competent gunsmith should be capable if they can get the liner and the chamber reamer.

I know how to do it and would have done it myself if I had a lathe.

Looking forward to getting it back into top shooting form

Thanks for the link shootist
