Dieseling

Postby Axel » Tue Jul 02, 2013 5:33 pm

Hi

I was plinking this morning using my rifle and usual pellets when one shot went off with a loud pop and a puff of smoke! I've heard of dieseling before but never experienced it. What caused it? The barrel hasn't had any oil down it, and the pellet didn't feel deformed when I put it in.

Possibly excess grease from the compression chamber getting into the barrel.

I see. The rifle's fairly new, had about 6-700 slugs through it. I suppose a little grease coming through would be normal.

Thanks for your reply.
