Webley Rebel problem (5 pumps and bang)

Postby texas radio » Fri Oct 03, 2014 3:09 pm

Hi all,

I bought a Rebel of a friend about 6 months ago to plink around in the garden and also to scare off a few pesky wood pigeons in the pine trees in my garden.

I normally put about 6 pumps in it and on occasion 8 pumps.

All has been great until the other night whilst on the 5th pump it just went bang and fired.
I tried it again and again and it will on the 5th pump just fire as if someone is pressing the trigger.
It holds up to 4 pumps okay but try 5 and it goes off.

Any idea to what the problem is ??

Seal perhaps ?? if so just 1 or replace them all ??

ps, he did say it has been tuned but i dont know exactly what or if this makes any diffence.

Thanks

Phil

Did you put oil in the air compartment. Usually oil will cause dieseling on firing and the air gun can sound more like a 22 going off. I've never heard of it being a problem while compressing the gun but I'm still young yet. ;) ;) ;) ;)

Hi,

Thanks for taking time to reply.

I have not put oil anywhere on it.

It was okay one day then the next day i was pumping it and it suddenly fired whilst i was half way through the 5th pump.

I then tried the trigger and there was no force/compression there.

any other ideas ??
