Scope for A .22

I was thinking of changing the scope on my .22 so was wondering what you have on yours and how you rate it. It will be for rabbits etc.

I have an MTC Mamba scope on my .22 WMR

And I have found it to be excellent so far clear even early in the morning when sneaking up on rabbits and it does not seem to lose Zero. reticule illumination is nice and adjustable too

I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24X40 on mine which many would claim is totally over the top.
It sits on 6X for much of its life, but the 24X is very handy for long rested shots or zeroing.
I couldn't imaging using a .22LR without a mil-dot (or similar) reticule.

I have a Bushnell Legend 5 - 15 X 40 sitting on top of my CZ, an excellent scope.

Fancy something different? How about an MTC Viper Connect?

Scope for A .22

Postby plugg » Mon Jun 13, 2011 5:31 pm

I have a buckshee BSA Deerhunter, worth about £500-

For 500 of them ;)

It does the job no worries although the objective lens could be better it suits the CZ and for what I use it for; cheap and cheerful :)

I'd be inclined to look for an old 3-9 Bausch and Lomb or Bushnell Elite..

Should come in at around or under £100 and the glass is good. 9X is plenty for bunnies on a .22 in my opinion.

Old Classic Weaver RV7 , 2-7x32 - jap optics, beautiful little scope, cost £200 these days.....

I gave £10 for it about 5 years ago!

You DON'T need massive optics on a .22rf, unless you like that sort of thing!

I have put BSA sweet 22 scope 4-16 by 40 on my rimefires the high magnification is mainly for my son who is visiauly impaired (registered blind). On the 25 metre range He can put the whole magazine in a 4.5cm radius circle.
When I take out on the farm I turn the magnification down the scope comes into its own when you use the drop compensator just dial in the distance put the cross hair on the target and that is where the round goes

Stuart might be persuaded to part with this scope:

Would prefer black.

At the moment i'm using a Meopta Artemis 2000 3-9x42 with a no4 reticle, i got a good deal from a guy who got it through a warranty claim but he had already bought a replacement.I think it's too good a scope for my .22 so was going to sell it for something more suitable.

I wouldn't say it is too good. However, it will be parallaxed at 100 yards and with most shots you will be far short of that.

I agree about the 'not too good' bit but the parallax wouldn't be an issue for me anyway..

I'd keep the Meopta..

I had a cheap airgun scope so I put it on my 10/22. It's accurate enough but not very clear when the light fades. I think I'd like a very clear scope with relatively low, fixed magnification and a big lens to let in the light. Any thoughts?
Oh aye, has to be cheap as well.....

I'd say again, look at the B&L on stucanes 250..

Not fixed mag Flanker but a superb scope and should come in at around just over the £100 mark somewhere.. I'd pm him and make him a sensible offer to split away from the rifle..
