Scope Repairs. Preferably in Edinburgh or Glasgow

Postby Robert303 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 11:06 pm

Hello,
I have a couple of old German scopes a) Zeiss Zielvier and b) Zeiss Zielsechs in both the elevation does not seem to work.
Can anyone recommend an optical repair company that is GOOD and not too expensive. Ideally in Edinburgh or Glasgow as I'd prefer to take them in rather than post them.

Would also be interested if anyone knows of a company supplying 'Claw' mounts and bases for scopes like these.

Thanks

I doubt you will find anyone in Glasgow, my old Carl Zeiss Jenoptems were serviced by Glasgow Binocular Repairs who did a superb job - But I dont think they don't do Scopes

However - if you trust to send your Scope south of the Border, then this is the chap who is highly recommended, been advertising in GunMart for years.

He specialises in Pecar, but I am sure he does other German quality scopes! He is, Paul Burke, near Birmingham, England. Tel 0121 788 1050. That was his number a few years ago, he still advertises his telescopic sight repair service.

Never heard a bad word about him, just pack it well before you post. Quality repairers are getting thin on the ground! ;)

Viking Optical in Edinburgh will probably be able to help.
They send the work across to the Glasgow workshop for you

Claw mounts - look on the Apel site in Germany - not going to have much joy in the UK finding such things

As said Glasgow Bino centre don't do scopes, great on binos and draw telescopes though, I have used Paul Burke for scope repair (as recommended by Glasgow Bino Centre) and would happily recommend him.

Viking in Edinburgh is a new one to me .

Thanks for your help.
I'll call Glasgow Binoculars on Monday when they are back from holiday and if they cannot do them will get on to Paul Burke.
