Binoculars see the moon

Postby trappcy » Fri Jul 27, 2012 6:01 am

How good can these Binoculars see the moon? Im thinking about getting Celestron SkyMaster 12-100 x 70 Binoculars but i want to know how good can it see details on the moon. I can't find any videos of it on the moon. Also i would like to know what "12-100 x 70" means. I just started looking into binoculars.

12 - 100 is the magnification range, 70 is the size of the objective (big lens at the far end) in mm... Normally the bigger it is, the better it lets in light..

I'd advise buying decent glass however. It doesn't matter how big the objective and magnification is if the glass is poor quality.

Look at 10 X 50 Swarovski EL series.. ;) .. Not cheap, but you want to see the moon... I can't understand why a telescope isn't a better option though.. You'd get a decent second hand astronomical telescope for a couple of hundred quid...

I've moved this to the appropriate section ;)

You would be better off buying a Celestron Powerseeker 50AZ 50mm refractor telescope which has a 3x Barlow Lens. You can pick one up in ASDA for £50. While you are in there you can also get some Spam for the sandwiches you will be eating while sitting in the dark in your garden.

Two links have been removed from his profile, every forum he's joined was on March 29th, he seems to know more than he's letting on about and he's not from here about ;) my money's on a spammer.

I am quite willing to apologise if necessary but I did research the telescope.
