New Optics.........?

New Optics.........?

Postby English » Wed Nov 14, 2012 1:46 pm

For LSR I have been using a 4-16 Optimate (Edgar Bros) Scope

I'm thingking that I would like more Mag I had an 8-32x44 Scope which had a Bench rest fine reticule with a dot centered over the cross hairs?

I'd like something similar fine reticule but no dot?

Any suggestions would be welcome - I'm not looking for S&B, Khales or the like but want a 1/2 decent bit of kit (ie no really cheap far eastern tat  )

The floor is yours.............. :)

All ideas gratefully received - infact if anyone knows if Optimate do something like that - such a scope would be great?
If it has a trigger I'm gonna enjoy it!

Look - an eagle!

Edgar Brothers marketed the Optimate range and they discontinued them some time ago.

They have recently brought out a 3 to 9 badged as an Optimate but it is very much on the budget side and not to the quality of previous Optimates.

They did market an 8 to 32 Optimate but you're going to have to find old stock some where.

Others will have to advise you on an alternative.

The Sightron like leadpigs with the long range mil-dot ret is very fine. I went for the long rang MOA dot ret on mine, place the dot on rabbits heads at 500 yards and pull the trigger and you have a headless bunny!

But if you want the mil dot ret im sure they will also be very good. Like Dave says the Sightron's are awsome.

Another vote for the Signtron....I have the 8-32x56 fine crosshair target dot on my 500m Fly gun, and it's excellent.

Guys,

Thanks for the replies I think I whould make it clear that I want this scope for shooting at 20 yds for Light Weight Sport Rifle  It wont be used in low light ot at 500yd bunnies just PL14 targets at 20yds with my 10/22.

Some of the suggestions are for great Glass which is very laudable but perhaps too expensive for this simple application If I had a sightron on order it would probably go on my .308

I have a "Hawke scope which came on a rimfire that I have and it is no where near as good as the optimate scope, Which in turn is no where near as good as a the S&B, Khales, NF scopes that I have on other rifles? From the comments so far I think Keef probabaly has it - old stock 8-32x optimate?

Thanks for all the replies - any more for any more please?
If it has a trigger I'm gonna enjoy it!

Sorry call me sill (and i know someone will) but is a 4x16 not more than adequate for bunnies at 20yards? I'm using a 3x9 hawke for them out to 80yards plus and can't fault it!

Got a 8x32 Optimate lying unused, light use over the years, spent more time off rifles than on them, small scratch on the finish also has original box and sunshades (still wrapped), if your interested?

Keep meaning to flog it and the 5-25x Docter.
