Ok, being put together in the UK go some way towards making the price a little better.. a few Q's

1, Battery Life, how long does the unit run from one charge??

2, Video out.. is the cable supplied?

3 warranty, how long is the warranty??

4, servicing, will servicing be offered for battery replacement etc??

5, water resistance, is it sealed against water splashing, ie would it be ok in a light shower?

im currently in the market for something. and can decide if I should wait for the photon, get nite-eye.. or simply move my N550 to another rifle

Hi rgs101,

I've filled in the blanks below for you:

rgs101 wrote:Ok, being put together in the UK go some way towards making the price a little better.. a few Q's

1, Battery Life, how long does the unit run from one charge??
3 Hours continuous operation. There is a 12v power/charge lead available as an extra if you are in a vehicle and out for a very long time.

2, Video out.. is the cable supplied?
Nope due to the cost of the connectors mainly. We can make cables up or fit the correct connector to your own cable as an extra.

3 warranty, how long is the warranty??
1 year on the battery and 2 years on the rest of it.

4, servicing, will servicing be offered for battery replacement etc??
Yes battery replacement is very easy and we would do a check over and clean at the same time.

5, water resistance, is it sealed against water splashing, ie would it be ok in a light shower?
Yes! The socket and switch are both IP67 rated (hence the cost of the connectors) so they will function in the rain. The rest of the unit is well sealed and protected with a sealing channel built into the housing mating surfaces. If it wasn't for the need of the eyepiece focusing slots (which are covered by the rubber eyecup normally) the unit would be submersible.

im currently in the market for something. and can decide if I should wait for the photon, get nite-eye.. or simply move my N550 to another rifle

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Hi All,

Here's a bit of YouTube video showing the unit in action. Recorded via an up and coming accessory for the Ward-D-Vision ;) .

Hopefully the link works.

The near stuff is about 45 yards and the hedge line is around 100 yards.

The further out stuff is less contrasty especially at the full mag of the scope (12x in this case) so when it gets converted by the DVR recording you do loose a fair bit of detail, compared to what can be seen through the eyepiece which is perfectly clear and detailed by the way.

I will be endeavouring to make a video of the view through the eyepiece of the system at some stage.

Cheers

Can one of these (or any other rear add on) be used on a fixed focus 4x36 size scope with sensible results ?

Neil. :)

Hi Neil,

Yes a 4x fixed is about the only fixed power scope that an add on will work with. We are tinkering on a gadget that will allow any fixed scope to work with an add on, but the 4x has enough depth of field that it doesn't need it.

Having said that it still won't be much use for close in stuff.

Define close in ?

It's on my .22 rimmie so it never gets stretched past 60 yards at night, with most shots around 30 yards.

Hi Neil,

I've got a 4x32 around here somewhere. I'll give it a test for you.
