Awesome NV option

Postby bulldog14 » Sun Oct 06, 2013 1:03 pm

I have just recieved my IR illuminator laser from odicforce.com . strapped up my sony handycam up to the scope with some camo tape and 42mm pipe and the results (tho it looks a bit amatuer) works fantastic! tried it out to 60 yards so far and boy is it impressive! laser and batteries with charger came to £53 altogether, which is a far cry from the £500 asked by Nite Site. will be looking for a more compact camera (maybe this http://www.colorapples.com/full-hd-1080 ... lE7PtI3te_ ) with IR capabilities but for the money i think its worth the pennies. anyone else had a go at a make shift NV system??

Have camo taped all the pipe up now and velcro strap, its good as i have the option of the lcd screen or looking thru the aperture in the old school fashion for added inconspicuousness.

Thanks guys, Ill post some pics when I find the mem card for photos to show how clear image is, its a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD610. Bought it couple years ago for kids school show, sports day etc then forgot about it, started thinking about NV few weeks ago and looked into lasers etc then remembered I had this camcorder with nightshot and thought id have a go, if it didnt work id only lost £50 odd but its really good.

Yes it is a 'real' Zeiss lens. I just bought a DCR SX31, may well give your idea a try.

make sure you go for the IR iluminator one tho as there are two which are similar but only ones NV suitable, one £29 and ones £35, its the £35 one you want. and as you can focus laser beam it does come really clear espec considering the price, i still cant belive it worked so well and i saved a packet! only tricky bit was working out how to keep camcorder in position but just needs a little thought
