Scope from the 50s / 60s

Postby tisme » Mon Nov 04, 2013 8:31 pm

I've got a nice BSA international 1958 that I need a scope for. It's only going to be out to 50 yards but I would like something from the same date ( give or take ten years) recommendations please.

That might do it. What does it look like?

How are you going to mount it? The standard mounting holes, if there, will be too far forward to give the proper eye relief. The rifle itself deserves a good scope, one that's worthy of it's potential accuracy. Period scopes will be along the lines of a Redfield or a Parker Hale. Both bloody expensive, or if you are as rich as Croesus a Unertl.

Here's one of mine.

or, with an earlier scope, an old Lyman 25x.

There's a rail on it when I bought it so that's the easy part. I like both of the above and it does deserve a good scope but broke at the mo ( bought too many rifles lately) . Maybe I'll have to wait a bit.
At least I know what to look out for now.
