Ward-D-Mini Testing

Postby Clive Ward » Wed Jan 29, 2014 2:15 am

Hi All,

I had lovingly crafted a wonderful post on this but my login timed out and it disappeared up it's own bum never to be seen again.

So instead of that imagine you have just spent 5-10 minutes reading an engaging and witty forum post packed with visual aids (which is what I feel like I've got after all that fruitless typing) and then go here:

http://www.nvscopes.com/ward-d-mini%20d ... ision.html

Cheers

Which leave the how much question ?
Having looked closely at my C/F rifles/scopes, and yours and others rear end add ons I have come to the conclusion they are not
going to fit my rifles as they are, not enough bolt handle to scope clearance, the only exception is possibly my 22lr.
As I am not going to compromise my rifles to use one, this looks as of it may be a solution to fitting one to the rimfire.
Questions...
If this is 110mm long mounted, how far from it's rear end does your eye need to be.
There appears to be a fair size gap between this unit and the scope, why, and is the distance critical.
What happens if you change this distance.
How much is the DSA, and could I make a neater unit to fit one size scope only ?

Neil. :)

Hi Neil,

I've filled in as best I can below for you...

If this is 110mm long mounted, how far from it's rear end does your eye need to be. You can have your eye anywhere from right against it to 30mm back.
There appears to be a fair size gap between this unit and the scope, why, and is the distance critical. You generally need 35-40mm space between a conventional add on and the back of the scope.
What happens if you change this distance. If you move too far forward you start to loose the edges of the image.
How much is the DSA, and could I make a neater unit to fit one size scope only ? The standard Pulsar DSA is £30 and it is possible to modify it to get the NV another 10mm closer or you can use the Pulsar DSA around the other way and slide it further onto your day scope. Yes you can make your own quite easily out of plastic pipe if you only want it to suit one scope.

Neil. :)

Cheers

Hi Neil,

Just waiting for one last component to arrive to fill the empty space in all these units here, how frustrating.

Cheers

Hi Neil,

It's not too tricky. A very simple one is to use a short length of silicone automotive hose. But others have used PVC pipe, etc.

I have just come back from the fishing tackle shop with a collection of broken pole sections.
With luck I should end up with a selection of tubes that will fif all my scopes, in carbon
