Wed Apr 23, 2014 12:36 pm

currently i have a hawke 3-9 x50 on the rifle and although im getting ok results i feel the rifle is better than the scope,
my budget is £150 max ... new i could get another hawke or a nikko sterling .. any other suggestions ??.
on the second hand front a friend may be selling a leupold 4-12x ? .... for £150 a good option perhaps ?

I must have spent a fortune over the years on various cheaper scopes and now in my dotage I've made the decision only to buy decent scopes. Over a period my old scopes have been replaced with two Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5 to 16 on my gallery rifles, a Sightron 10 to 50 on my 308 and a Sightron x36 mag on my .22 benchrest. I've had a Leopold 8 to 25 LR on my 223 for a while and I had a Leica 3.5 to 14 until my son pinched for his 10/22.

My advice would be to wait, save some more money and buy some quality glass for the rifle. A good scope will last a life time and see you through any upgrade or change of rifle.

Agree with Keith re the Sightron. Excellent scopes which, for some strange reason, are very underated.

It's probably cos they don't let new users access the sales forum, secret squirrel stuff!

Register on the airgun bss and get access to the sales section, it's great for second hand top glass...

If it's a rimfire the hawke scope you have got are a very good scope they are clear enough and hold zero I don't no if yours is PA adjustable but I'd want PA on a rimfire to be honest I'd stay as u are
