The Aimpoint stuff tends to be well made, red dot sights look a bit odd on a Winchester 94

How about one of these, I have the 3-12 x 50 nice glass good with low light, also has the smallest red dot that can be made

What one to go for could be dictated by your colour perception.

I am colour blind and have great difficulty picking up a small red dot.

If you have any difficulty with colour perception it may be better to go with a model that gives a choice of red or green dot.

Another problem is picking up the dot against a bright background such as an open range in bright sunshine.

I have an open screen type that has four different rets, a dot, a cross, a ring and a ring with a cross, all available as red or green with various levels of brightness.

An alternative is a tube type with the same options.

This is the open screen or holographic:

This is the tube type:

for lever guns the burris fastfire or the UK made shield are small discrete and dont look so out of place as a honking great eotech or aimpoint

I have a Shield on my LBP, very discrete as these things go.

I believe the main problem with optics on a Winchester is the top ejection of the empty case.

If you're using a red dot type sight them eye relief is as long as you want so the sight can be mounted forward of the ejection opening. I haven't looked but that might mean modifying a mount designed for the Winchester.

If you update your profile and put in where you live there may be a member near to you who can help.

Pretty good, doesn't matter where your head is if you can see it what is behind the dot is where the bullet goes.

Hi.
I was looking for a red dot sight and was given the advice to try a 1-4x24 scope with I/R.
I gives the same effect close up as a red dot and you can still use it for longer shots ,don't know if this would suit what you are doing but it is what I opted for .
