Parallax adjustment on the side, not the front.

Ok then it should be the same as re-setting a none PA scope.

Slacken the front lock ring (rubber strap wrench is good) and screw the lens carrier out enough to bring a target at your preferred distance into focus, lock the ring again.
Obviously make sure you PA setting is at minimum while doing this.
In practise moving a 100 yard setting on most scope down to 50 yards is less than a full turn.
You can make a simple tool for the lens carrier from a strip of steel, old steel rule is what I used, just cut it to fit inside the lock ring so it engages it the two slots cut in the carrier, be very careful and make sure it cannot touch the glass, you may need to cut a semi circle from the edge to get clearance, depends on the curve of the lens.

I have always used a piece of hacksaw blade ground to the correct length for adjusting parallax - so cheap you can keep a dedicated piece for each scope you own. :-)

I have just bought a Zeiss Conquest 2-8x42 with Illuminated ret

On ordering I requested the parallax set at 25 meters which was done at the factory.

After spending nearly £900 on a quality scope I was not getting my mitts inside it

A superb scope and is superb on the bunnies at night
