Scope suggestions

I'm building an air rifle stock for a bloke and he has asked me about a scope. My previous and recent experience with scopes has been higher power big scopes for FT or full bore target shooting so I'm after some suggestions for him for his hunting needs.

The specification would be:

Budget: £500.00

Type: Compact typically 2 to 8 mag by 36

Ret: Simple 30/30 ret.

Parallax: 30 to 35 yards.

He has looked at a Leupold hence the 2 to 8 x 36 mentioned but it would need to be sent back to the US for re parallax which is going to add to his bill.

Neither he nor I will want to reset the parallax as it will invalidate the warranty.

I'm thinking that an option would be adjustable parallax that he can set to suit what he wants.

Suggestions please?

On my air rifle I use a Leupold 6-18 x 40 it has an AO adjustable parallax very bright compact and dependable.

In fact I liked it so much I put one on my Ruger 1022

6-18x40
Ao parallax from about 15 yards
1inch tube
compact
1/2 MOA turrets so 2.5mm at 25 yards
Lifetime warranty

Or if this may be better
4-12 x 40 AO

Can recommend Uttings for service superb

That scope is a good one but it's too big for what he wants.

If he only wants it for hunting, then there's no need to spend a fortune on a scope for an air rifle - especially if it's going to be sub-12 fpe. Any one of the Hawke range will do nicely, but I can recommend the Airmax 2-7x32 AO. It is a superb little scope, and for the money there's nothing better available. I have included a link, but if you shop around you'll probably find it cheaper. There is an illuminated reticule version as well.
