I see...
Anyway, Ross, aside from the self confessed patronising blurb, have you had any more thoughts on a scope?

I had a Zeiss Conquest on my 308 initially - the zero wasn't in the centre of the elevation range, and couple this with the fact it had next to no adjustment anyway, I really struggled to get on 1000yds with my 308, and that was with a 20moa rail! (Was using full elevation and the bottom mildot!)

Since then I've got a Nightforce with 115moa of adjustment, a little overkill I know, but still - lesson learned the hard way!

Dave,

Which model Conquest out of intereset? Do you know what your eventual come up was at 1000 yards taking into acount the mildots might not actually be 'mils' (as I do not know what setting on your scope a mil is a mil, being a SFP scope that is :? )

I can understand the zero not being in the centre of adjustment with a 20moa rail, some folks end up with a 28-30 mnute rail with a 308, also depends on your load as the 308 does become a bit 'baseball like' out at 1000 yards. ;) My 308 using 175g SMK's required just over 10 mils (36+") of elevation to get to 1000 yards

Nightforce are nice, you can see why they are so popular for long range target work.
