In the early 1970's me and my father salvaged two sunken ex-lifeboats(Re-floated with sheets of polystyrene and me diving under to put them in and also using a building site water pump to clear the water from the boats as they began to rise again them out we done it) We discovered that they were fitted with built in Cummins Diesel engines.A great find from the River Leven at Balloch. After a refurb of both we were now Captains of our own boats.Well he went his way,up the East Coast to get to the north of Loch Lomond.(Balmaha,Tarbet etc).Me and my pals just stuck a pin in the map and thats where we went for weeks on end as this was one of the best years summerwise that I can remember. It was then I discovered a deserted Island called Inchmoan(Isle of peat) And I believe we had our own private shooting club there.(Be it only Break barrell rifles and pistols at the time). Our high tech targets were bean, soup and also mince cans that where empty.(The more we ate the more targets we had)we also set the ft akin to a golf course.I.E.Arrows pointing to the next target held down with a small stone then the yardage(Roughly) We had hand drawn Bullseye targets to.For some reason when we moored at Luss My Dad would already be there for some reason before me (Creep)We'd been shooting ,He'd only be fishing I Thought we won hands down.Oh happy memories.Yours Jim.
