Typically pins are used for burnishing metal and they are great at getting into small places. Burnishing does not remove any metal but merely smooths the surfaces of the substrates. They will remove chips of metal from "flashing" caused by drilling through as metal such as you would find at the interior of a case at the primer hole where the drill cut through the case. The pins with smooth such edges. They will not remove metal from the smooth case body, We used them all of the time in various shapes and sizes in the jewelry industry. They were used to smooth surfaces only and the only metal the pins would ever removed was flashing. We used ceramics for cutting and polishing surfaces. Ceramics only remove microscopic bits of metal as they smoothed and polished the substrate surface and wouldn't that impact the life of a cartridge case.
