So you are merely complying with the law when you refuse access  ;)

seriously though

If it is your first inspection for your application you may get asked (or your wife) about where keys are kept etc. Obviously don't tell the FEO where they will be and if asked make it clear that NO ONE will have access except you. If they believe that anyone else may have access then it is grounds to refuse an application even if it's your wife / partner . 8-)

Thanks for that info Andy. Can you clarify what you said about the FEO - Don't tell them?

Cheers!

If you are keeping the keys in your sock drawer then don't tell the feo. They will want to know you are keeping the keys secure. If you have a key safe then that's great but again dont tell them combinations or where you keep the key .
Likewise if it's also where car keys , spare keys etc are kept then it wont be suitable unless you are the only one with access.
I'm sure they won't deliberately try and trip you up but if you are asked and the wife pipes up with the location it could be awkward.
I guess its a long winded way of saying use common sense.
If my feo askef where i keep my keys ( never has yet) i wouldn't tell him. Same as if they turn up for a random inspection when im not in ? My wife knows to turn them away because she ' doesn't know where the keys are'
It would look bad if you weren't in and a household member gave the police access thinking they were being helpful !

'Look bad' isn't the correct term here. The correct term for this scenario is 'instant revocation'.

That cabinet is knacked... get replacement one but bigger, I started off with one and about to buy number 4, for example they are advertised as 6 but fit 3 or r 4 comfortably. A small cabinet will be a regret, tell the other half you can keep other valuable items in there as well.......

Got the cabinet replaced with a 6 gun cabinet and all installed. Still waiting to hear about my visit. Been 7 weeks now and heard nothing. But the cheque was cashed pretty quickly! Fingers crossed it will be soon.

And may I ask how many pairs of shoes, handbags and party dress's SWMBO has, yet YOU can only have ONE gun, I think there is a serious 'training' issue here!

Still nothing on the visit front. Emailed them just before Christmas and got a reply saying checks were still being done. I hate waiting :?

Never, ever, lie to your wife, it's just wrong...

A friend of mine told his wife the truth when she asked how much he'd paid for his latest gun - fourteen ninety five - which was true.
It isn't his fault if his wife took that to mean £14.95 is it?
