Not unless they are really close.

Buckshot or SG is overkill for foxes, buckshot is a deer load designed for close range. The pattern of big shot quickly spreads at range and you risk an unlucky non critical impact unless close, so not really the best choice for the job.

No 3 up to BB size in magnum loads are common amongst fox shooters and will do the job out to 30 yards or so with a half choke.

I use a goose load if I'm taking a shotgun out on my shoot's high seats with fox in mind, the ranges in question are close at 10-15 yards from the trail. Beyond 25 yards or so and for me it's rifle time.

I always carry half a dozen Magnum AAA for close fox that is through a Henry Monk magnum 12g 30", 3/4 and Full choke barrelled side by side , up to 25- 30 yards I will drop them no problem ,beyond that distance I wont shoot at them .

Pattern fails before energy with buckshot.

The advice to use goose loads is a good one as geese can be tougher than foxes IMO.

Pattern the load and let your maximum range be dictated by that.

I like a nice 50 grams of BBs but sensible loads up and down will work.

That is true , geese do take some penetrating , my favoured load for geese is BB 52 gram , funny things to shoot are geese , they fly faster than what you expect them to , and I don't like taking a to distant shot at them due to their feather pack , beyond 50 yards I let them fly away .

No 4 Buck = .24" pellets - its not a size we encounter over here - European AAA is 0.20" per pellet and is usually available.

AAA is a very good fox load at sensible distances (I do similar to SxS and carry a few AAAs, in case a fox presents a safe shot when bird shooting).

As has been said already, the bigger sizes offer more energy and penetration per individual pellet, but the lack of pellet numbers mean that the pattern gets too dispersed to be sure of good solid hits over vital areas as range increases.

Best advice here is to pattern test at various ranges as many have said, and be honest with yourself. Do not be seduced into thinking "any hit anywhere with a .36 calibre shot will immediately stop a fox" - it won't if it doesn't hit something vital!!
