We are talking about your shotgun, are we not?????? I seem to detect certain multiple tonal overlays that would suggest something else.   Have you named you shotgun and if so does it have a female or male moniker.

Just got in from pigeon shooting.

Pulled to boresnake through which got the crap out, two passes from the Otis system and bright and shiny.

The snake did cut down the patch count so I guess it has its place

I shot clays this weekend, starting with the barrel squeaky clean as it just came back from the smith, which is another story, I'll be checking the straps on my gunslips aren't about to come off in future though :(

Afterward (before any cleaning) the barrel was still bright and shiny with only a couple of slight streaks in the forcing cone. I know that doesnt mean there is no fouling though, so I pulled my brand new boresnake through it 3 times, it came out dirty, but the barrel didn't look any different to me.
Hasn't convinced me that cleaning is worthwhile.

Cleaning means that you can spot any issues (light rust perhaps or a small dent etc.) before they become a major issue.
It's easier to spot a small oil leak from a clean engine than from a dirty one.
Keep your booger hook off the bang switch until your sights are on the target.........
