Hatsan 20 - Any good?

Postby Clive Ward » Tue Oct 28, 2014 10:43 pm

Hi All,

I've been looking for a 20 for my kids to have a go at shooting with and a Hatsan Youth model caught my eye in the local shop the other day as it has a 24" barrel and a short stock. With the huge recoil pad that's on there already and a bit of self adhesive neoprene on the comb it should be comfy as a comfy thing to shoot for them.

One thing that appeals is that I can get a full sized stock as a spare for it to bung on as they grow or if a full sized person might want to play with it ;)

Anyone got one, had one in a 20?

Cheers

I've only shot the 12g models Clive but never owned one.
they aren't really my cup of tea and I can't see the "junior" models being any different in the cycling department to the grown up versions :thdn:
I would say 90% of the people that I know have had issues and there must be 8 hatstand owners just at my clay club alone, not to mention the rough shooting brigade.
so they don't get my vote I'm afraid.
and to clarify, some of these guns are the newer models

Hatsan shotguns are not really known for quality, however they are cheap, several guys at the clay club have owned them but generally sell them quick.

If your looking for a reasonable gun that will last for years check out the Baikal range, they also make a junior model and are priced right.

They don't have the finesse of a Beretta or Browning but at £450 for the 20g offer good value for money and built to last and break clays as good as a £20k gun. A young lad at the club uses one.

I own one it gets used both for clays and in the field, check out the reviews on them.
